Welcome to the first in a four part series that will guide you through some of the physical signs to look out for when someone may be telling you a lie.

Each of the episodes will focus on a different technique and combining all of the techniques together will give you a better indication of when someone might be telling your fibs.

In this first episode Brook focuses on the eye access cues, which in a nutshell allows you to make better sense of what people’s eye movements portray.

While eye access cues are not a definite science they can give you a good indicator of what is happening with the way that information is either being recalled or generated.

In order to use eye access cues you will need to establish the individual’s base-line response to questions that require answers that are both remembered and also recalled.

After establishing a base-line for those responses you will be able to ask that individual questions and from their eye movements get an indication of which parts of the answer are being remembered and which parts of the answer are being created.

The one thing to look out for is that creating information doesn’t necessarily mean lying. It could be as simple as not remembering so taking an educated guess, or simply embellishing the answer a little. This is why it is important to use this technique in conjunction with other body language techniques.
