Slow Motion Lighter

Slow Motion Lighter Ignition

I do like to see things in slow motion. Moments that just flutter by in regular life are seen in a new, and often beautiful, way. In this video you can see a slow motion lighter ignition.

Notice how many sparks are created as the flame is formed, it seems like hundred of tiny little particles are on fire. It is very similar to the embers that float away from a large scale fire, such as a camp fire.

There is a smoke cloud that gathers around the initial flame. The heat of the fire then spreads the cloud of smoke as it rises, it then forms a ghostly sphere around the flame.

It’s really beautiful, and the more that I watch it, the more it reminds me of a solar flare send out from our sun. Maybe, even, a star going super nova…or is that just too much imagination on my part?

What do you see when you look at this video? What are you reminded of?

A slow motion lighter ignition is all it takes to see this regular everyday item, in a new light. It’s all about perspective, and how we see things. I wonder what other things we do each and every day that we take for granted, and overlook their beauty?

Another Slow Motion Lighter Ignition

After watching the video above, I did a quick search on YouTube and managed to find another slow motion lighter ignition. This time the flame and the way it builds are very different from the initial video. At first nothing appears to happen, then a cloud of fire is formed after the sparks of the ignition seem to have faded away. This may be due to the fact that the lighter is set to produce a taller flame:
