Praying Mantis Bicycle

Praying Mantis Bicycle Illusion

A praying mantis bicycle journey? No just a praying mantis resting on two newly formed fern stems. But it gives the illusion of the praying mantis bicycle riding.

I really like this photograph, not only because it is a ‘right place at the right time’ moment, but because it is stunning.

Indonesian photographer Tustel Ico captured this amazing shot. He also has another shot where the praying mantis looks like he is playing the circular fern stems as though it were a DJ – http://500px.com/photo/6759566

I guess this is a lesson in being able to look at the world around us and notice the small things. The things that most of us take for granted a lot of the time. I’m guilty of this due to being so busy. But when I do stop and have time to reflect, it’s nice to just focus in on something apparently trivial and immerse yourself within it.

It could be the way an old book’s paper feels, or the way that a fly repeated flies in formation, or the texture of a surface. Whatever it is that arrests your attention, just go with it and experience it.

Paul, it’s just a Praying Mantis Bicycle

Well, it’s not even that, it’s the illusion of a praying mantis bicycle.

I know I might be being a little philosophical about such a small thing, but didn’t you feel a moment of awe when you saw the photo. Didn’t you want to say “wow”…wasn’t it just a bit of a special moment? It was for me.

What will be your ‘Praying Mantis Bicycle’ moment today?
