The annoyance of forgetting names will soon be a thing of the past with the second part in this mini-series.
In the previous video we took a look at the powerful technique of simply reducing the noise of information present in a first meeting and enabling you to focus on the important information.
A simple step, but the simplicity of these techniques ensures that you are going to do them.
What’s technique for part two?
In this video the technique focused on is that of name linkage.
Essentially, when a person tells you their name you think of another person that you know with that name.
If the person tells you his name is Andrew then think of someone called Andrew that you know and just allow the memories of your friend to flood into your mind as you look at the person.
You will visually see the person you know and the things you attribute to them will link in with the new person’s face. This way you don’t need to remember the name, just the friend that the person is paired with.
Obviously, we don’t have friends that cover the vast array of names out there.
But we do have popular culture, movie stars, TV stars and other famous people that we know and their associations to draw on too.
If you are going to use famous TV and film stars just be sure not to get confused with the actor’s name compared to the character’s name that they are portraying.
Here’s a little extra something
Using your mind as a powerful tool can be very beneficial, but it’s not just a useful tool for everyday tasks, it’s a great way to have fun too.
In the completely free eBook below you will learn how to make it look like you can read someone’s mind.
